The project works in Chellampatti and Vadipatti blocks of Madurai District. The project functions with a goal of bringing down the incidence of female infanticide at Chellampatti Block in Madurai District; to provide HIV/AIDS prevention and care & support among the rural masses especially women and children; and to continue the livelihood and life skill education to women and children at the Tsunami affected areas (Sinnoorpettai at Karaikal).
The project creates awareness and sensitisation among community on the female infanticide and its consequences, organises the stakeholders into structures and promotes involvement of community based organisations to ensure sustainability.
Short term aims:
- To inculcate education and training for the women about female infanticide and its consequences.
- To provide an effective intervention on HIV/AIDS among rural masses.
- To continue the on-going activities at Tsunami hit areas.
Long term aims:
The purpose of the project is into 3 fold.
- To bring down the incidence of female infanticide at Chellampatti Block in Madurai District.
- To provide HIV/AIDS prevention and care & support among the rural masses especially women and children.
- To continue the livelihood and life skill education to women and children at the Tsunami affected areas (Sinnoorpettai at Karaikal)
